The art of Wheel building is a good book, i just built my first wheelset with it and sheldon brown as my guide and they seemt o be alright. The book had some serious input from DT swiss, he makes many references to them. Check out http://www.mtbr.com for reviews. For a truing stand i got the Park TS-7 for 65 shipped and that comes with the dishing tool. Its pretty beefy and works well fo rme.
