I was good this morning! Had the good legs. Perhaps the 2 previous days of rest had something to do with it. It all started with being passed by a roadie at the very start of my loop ride, which begins with a 4 mile climb with varied grade. He waved to me as he passed, which was nice, then flew past me. Warming up to the climb, I rounded a hairpin which begins the worst of the steep section and saw the roadie well up the hill ahead of me by perhaps 500 feet. Overtaken by chase mode, I began to pound out a steady rhythm in a gear higher than normal for me. At the end of that section I had closed the distance by half. Toward the end, I closed to within 50 feet. The last 1000 feet is another steep section that I often like to power up for the workout. Had I done my usual at that point I would have passed the guy, but I gave him a gift instead. He stopped at the top and waved as I continued on down the backside descent. Tomorrow I'll probably suck.
