That's why I stopped using a HRM. The day I gave that thing away was the day I started seeing huge improvements in my racing.
I wear my HRM in races but I do not have HR as one of my viewed metrics. I have Cadence, Speed, Time, and Distance showing. I usually only glance at speed and distance. The HRM is for data post race. Cadence is interesting because I generally only look at it when I know I need to downshift.
