We get that blank stare a lot. Since we spend so much of our time riding in areas with very few other cyclists (we're now riding, as a family, from Alaska to Argentina), we tend to want to talk with other cyclists - whether they are touring or not. Sometimes they will be friendly and talk, but more likely than not they'll just blow past us and not even acknowledge us. I guess since we wear normal clothes (cotton t-shirts anyone??) we aren't good enough for them. I dunno....
