Centurion Dave Scott Master
Hello All,
I'm a new member and a new owner of an old bike. I love it! $60 for a (rough) Centurion Dave Scott Master. Purple / White paint scheme. I've learned a lot about it from this forum, I think of it as a classic muscle car from the 60's and want to rebuild it as close to stock as possible. It has some rust peeking through and the previous owner took a can of white Rust-o-leum to the lower swing arms and messed up the paint down there. The seat looks to be original - says Turbo. It's as hard as a rock. Tires have the gumwall side put appear to be pretty good. All Shimano 600 parts, pedal clips (has regular pedals now), air pump. Original handlebar tape (needs replacing) on half of it, electrical tape on the lower half and it's missing the water bottle racks. I have seen a picture of it on this forum (BigBossMan I think) so at least I know what it SHOULD look like. It seems to have had reflectors on the spokes but I don't see that on any of the pictures of the bikes on this forum.
Is there a picture of of one from a manual or catalog that anyone has ever seen? I would like to get it repainted as well using the picture as a reference. Is there any way to get the decals for it?
On my second ride, i snapped the shifter cable. I have to get that replaced quickly just for the next couple of months then drop it off for a good tune up in the winter. My second question - what should I have done by the shop as part of the tune up? I would want to try e-bay for original parts before replacing anything.
Does anyone redo seats? i.e. keep the frame and have it repadded and covered. It's worn and more brown than black but has NO padding to speak of.
Thanks j
