There is no rational explanation for ANYTHING on E-Bay. That said, I'd love to have a 1972 Super Sport with all the original components in "like new" condition. It was one of the very best "production line" bikes ever made in the USA.

Taylor University of Indiana got a lot of publicity around 1970 for sponsoring coast to coast bike tours. Schwinn loaned Taylor University some Super Sports to try one summer. The following year, Taylor got rid of all of their imported European bikes and replaced them with Super Sports. They found that the Super Sports were FAR more reliable than the European bikes, and that adjustments were easy to make with a few easy to find tools (a couple of adjustable wrenches and some screwdrivers).
