Cadd This doesn't really answer your question but, if the tape is going to give me away in that situation, I would most likely have my lights on as well.

I can turn my fronts of easily enough, but my rear lights are near impossible to do on the move, especially in flee mode. If I had time to stop to do that...

You can't make anything perfect, focus one the higher risk areas that can be reduced by a large amount in a simple way. Even if it increases another risk ever so slightly, you are still way ahead of the game.

Below 60 you won't ride? I consider 50 perfect after getting warmed up. Ride more often and you might learn how to evade/avoid those situations better.
