I am acquainted with a local pro who rode for Rite Aid last year. The domestic US teams pretty much all race clinchers. They can't justify the higher cost of tubulars (he said) and they pay for their own tires, unlike the UCI teams who get them from the tire companies who want the big-time cycling exposure they get in races like the Tour de France.
