If you're a commuter, it pretty much does. Most of us have to be at work by a particular time; we can't just decide to ride in at 11 am because the bike path is less crowded then. My workplace, in particular, is extremely laid back with regard to almost everything but getting in on time.

Ah, ok, so you're maybe unfamiliar with the goat rodeo that goes on on that path during commuting hours in the fair-weather months.

Correction: on most days that you're on it. That doesn't sound like it's "most days".

I wouldn't. So what if it's a logjam? It lasts for all of two blocks, and they can't go but you can -- you can't breeze right through, but you can manage it. And I highly doubt that "many" are "seriously intoxicated". You just don't see that behind the wheel these days. Irritated and clueless, yes; drunk, no.

I'm not in it for the scenery. I'm a commuter and I'm trying to get to work.

I'd say the T is worse than driving these days, by a good long chalk. I had to take the T a couple days ago, and it was just plain wretched. In the time it took me to get from Packard's Corner to St. E's, I could have ridden my bike from St. E's to downtown and back. Sad.
