I'm pretty surprised by the police's reaction. (EDIT: Call me naive.) From my POV, you got really luck as it could have been a lot worse. What if this driver is a menace and runs down a kid next week? Wouldn't they want your previous -- and potentially injurious or fatal -- event on the record?

Anway, I'd check in with a doc. If there is a neck or back injury, it might not really make itself know until a week or so from now. I dated a girl in college who was in a very bad car accident, but didn't start feeling true pain until several days after the wreck.

And if the doc suspects something, I'd go back to the cops.
