gel alternatives?
I'm getting tired of buying GU gels at more than $1 per pack for my longer rides. What are some cheaper alternatives to gels? I've thought about honey, but it seems too thick to get down. Anyone have any experience?
p.s. - please don't say peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or bananas. I can't imagine rolling out for a long ride with 4 bananas in my jersey pockets. I'm hoping for ideas for things that are as convenient and easy as gels and equally effective at preventing the bonk, but much less expensive.
