OK, here's my saddle height story. On tour last month:



I had a bike fitting at Cadence in Philadelphia, and this is what I wound up with:



After I fell mounting the bike and gashed my right leg on the chainring, I lowered the saddle height slightly, and so I have:



I can't speak for everyone who has low saddles, but I can't manage to mount the bike as 'normal' folks do without falling. I have to be on the saddle before the first downstroke. So I need at least one foot to be touching the ground. I wonder how much of the low saddle craze you are seeing is due to inability, for whatever reason, to mount a bike 'correctly?"
