The editor of Galaxy magazine back in the 40's and 50's is famous for having said "90% of everything is crap." Probably true. and if you look back at the top 10 lists (or beyond) from many of those eras you will find them splattered with crap tunes.
"afternoon delight" anyone? "yummy yummy yummy"? "she's having my baby" (just typing that one out made me urp a little in my mouth).
