Riding roads with multiple lanes in the same direction scares me a LOT less then riding a 2 lane road where people cant change lanes into a lane going in the same direction. They will squeeze you trying to make illegal passes on double yellows in blind curves. 41 is probably a lot safer since it has wider lanes and usualy better visibility.
Yeah the most treacherous road I ride is a residential street that's a shortcut also. 2 lanes w/ traffic-calming bulb curbs, and "stop for pedestrians" crosswalk signs stuck in the center of the road all the way down. So between the signs, cars try to pass quickly, sometimes regardless of oncoming traffic. Stupid!
