I have nearly 3,000 miles on my 3 year-old Specialized Globe and she rolls as well as the day I bought her. Mine came with a lot of stuff: generator lights, rack, fenders, chain guard, and an integrated lock. I've added a computer, panniers, and a Cateye headlight and taillight. The standard generator headlight is okay, just not bright enough to really light up the bike paths I'm on in the early morning. I haven't had the same experience as the other reader regarding the generator lights going out at long traffic signals. I've timed mine, and they stay on well past three minutes.

All in all, the Globe is a solid commuter bike. I think you'll like it.
