Taking it to the LBS to have them adjust would be prudent. especially with all the fiddling you did today.

For future reference, derailleur adjustments aren't rocket science. Like someone else pointed out, there are a lot of great Youtube videos out there to walk you through it.

If you end up like me and want minimal noise/chatter and quick crisp shifting, you should learn the basics of derailleur adjustments so you can fine tune every once in a while.
