Sounds like you didn't eat and drink enough.
Next time aim for one 750 ml bottle of water and/or sports drink every 1 to 1.5 hours ... and 250-300 calories per hour.
It doesn't really matter what you eat, as long as it is something you're used to and you know sits well.
