Knocked Down a Rung

Seems like no matter how fast you get and good you feel, there’s always some ride ready to knock you down a rung or two.

So I started back to biking this year after about a 15 year layoff to fool around with some volleyball and tennis. Bought a brand new Specialized Tarmac in February and started riding regularly beginning in April and May. I’m a big guy and started at about 235 and now I’m down in the 220-225 range. I doubt I’ll ever get below 200, but I feel better so who's counting.

Anyway, I’ve done two metric century’s and one full century this summer. On the full century we averaged just over 16 mph. I’m thinking not bad for my first year back in the saddle. So two weekends ago I do a charity ride of 60 miles locally in York County, PA. OMG the hills were everywhere!!! We only averaged about 14.5. Guess I got knocked down a peg or two and I know exactly where I’ll start my training next year.
