After too many days of not being on the bike, I rode into work this morning. It was quite chilly, mid-40s or so. I still wear shorts on the bike, and my legs stay mostly warm. I was wearing two shirts and gloves. I could've used something under my helmet.
My rear tire blew out on the 2nd Street Bridge. The sidewall was damaged, so no throwing a new tube in. Luckily, I'm close to a bike shop at that point. I walked the remaining mile or so, got a new tire, and was on my way.
On the walking portion of the ride, I crossed the street at a crosswalk (against the signal) and nearly got hit. That was my own mistake.
Surprisingly, I felt really good after the ride. I would probably be different if I'd had to walk four miles to get a tire though.
