yeah id say track cranks over 175 are high end. im just wondering what simply the crank arms do on a single speed that creates such a difference (im questioning if they do). the records i have are a converted double and the chainring i put on is a nice miche and the bottom bracket was 80 bucks. i actually think the $100 chainring and nice bottom bracket on my truvativs worked as well and were as round as my campy setup. what difference do JUST good crank arms make? i still feel like its just the name.

Why change anything? You have a crank off a groupo thats used in pro level racing. As far as quaity goes, your not going to get anything better than Record without going to a full on carbon crank arm. You may not notice any diffrence, but there is no reason to go down in quality.
