9 out of 10 of my rides are past 2am, usually about two hours long. I have two Fenix L2D headlights, a few blinkies, and a very bright blinking Cateye 5 LED tail light, and I love it. I pretty much have the road to myself, and the roads I ride are in very rural areas. Flat, smooth, deserted. I'm lucky to see three or four cars in two hours. It's very nice to ride and not have to worry about cars coming up behind you constantly, and on very dark roads you can generally tell when a car is coming up behind you due to 1) how quiet it is, and 2) their headlights.

It really does feel safer to me than riding during the day. If you ride regular routes, potholes arent much of an issue as you should know where the road gets bad after your second ride or so.

Highly recommended as long as you're safe about, prepare properly (I always carry at least two tubes and a patch kit), and know your way arond.
