I see your dilemma. With some padding, I don't see any structural harm happening to your BD. It would not be difficult to cut a custom block from PTFE teflon(like cutting board). Most machine shops can sell you the raw material or you could have them custom make the stop block. I had a custom plug made for a water tank that cost about $50.00
