I did the ride back in 01 when it was still run by Pallota Teamworks. The one thing I have to say about the ride is that it is not about the bicycling. The "ride" is a aids event that just happens to involve bicycles. Of the thousand of poeple riding maybe a couple of dozen (at the most) are cyclists.
The ride is very well supported, all you need every day is a water bottle and they take care of the rest. I met some really interesting personalities and over all had a good time.
I was disapointed with the orginazation not letting you take you bike out of the camp "inpound" after you checked in at the end of the day. It would have been nice to be able to ride into town etc. rather than feeling like your were locked in your dorm room for the night!
