im running square taper 105's that cost me a whopping $20. 167.5 length. i run the chain ring on the inside, and my chain line is straight. my "crappy conversion" of a schwinn world is solid, and rides as good as most of my friends bikes with dedicated "track" frames. its not necessarliy all the parts you put on the bike, but the way that they are put together. if you put some 75's on there with the zen messenger ring, but install it incorrectly, don't torque it down right, it will be just as noisy as any other crappy build. don't stress about the parts that are on your bike, but make sure those parts are put on that bike CORRECTLY.
