Thanks for the comments above! The more I consider this frame, the more I think I want to restore it. Maybe not to it's original state, but certainly to a reliable ride.

I was finally able to get some pictures. The frame IS 4130 CroMo, but it is NOT lugged construction. I kind of prefer lugged frames - they just appeal to me more for some reason, but the welds on this particular frame look pretty nice. I suppose the fact that it's welded suggests that it's maybe a newer model? I generally think of lugged frames as being older, but maybe that's not neccessarily true.

I still haven't located any identifying numbers on the frame and I'd welcome any suggestions as to where to look.

I'm still working on the stuck seat post. It's really fused in there good! It seems to be one of those extra long seat posts too, and from what I can tell it extends a good foot down into the seat tube. I've been reading many other posts on freeing seat posts though and I'll report back on my progress. It has now become a personal challenge and I don't think I could abandon it if I wanted to!
