If you're going to accept a 490g tire, you can start considering the Schwalbe Marathon and Continental Contact, both around 500g for a 28mm or 32mm tire. I've got both and like them much better than the gators. You can run them at 85psi and get a more comfortable ride, which of course, is not for everyone. Some people like a higher pressure, stiff tire. But then again, I don't hear of many people taking their ss off-road either, like I do. They're better for rain and commuting also, imho.
