I'm hurt. I don't live in NY but I have been a consistent supporter on this forum of NY cyclists and their CM movement... even had a fairly sharp exchange with vincenzosi before he saw the light, if I remember correctly.

I think that support or lack of support for NY cyclists' and their current situation is often informed by readers' overall world view (left wing wackos comments for example) and personal philosophy rather than a NY vs the world thing. Being someone who has been a member of left wing wacko organizations and protests all my life, I naturally gravitate towards positions of people vs power. Because I am a lifelong cyclist, I also naturally gravitate towards the positions of cyclists vs cagers. So, you guys are now my favorite team and i want you to win in every event.

More seriously, I have been the taret of police harrassment and it is scary as hell. It also has no place in an enlightened democracy. Police should be the public servants that they are intended to be. They should not act as arbitrary and bullying suppressors of legitimate protest.
