The MUP I ride is exactly the same way. I ride the roads for my recreational rides on the weekends, as there are fewer cars (usually). For my commute though, I always take the MUP. There's hardly anyone out there in the morning and the afternoon still isn't bad. I prefer to avoid half asleep drivers trying to get to work as much as possible, especially now that it's dark during my commute.
