Making One Week Commitment to Cycling
I, HastyDeparture, am making a contract with myself to bike my brains out twenty four (24) hours a day for the next seven (7) days. Of course, I'm unemployed, so lack of funding for spare parts and food will be a problem, but on the flipside, I've got plenty of time to scrounge around in LBS dumpsters for their used stuff.
I'm 16 now and I'm not growing hair fast enough, so I figure I might as well just shave it all off. My friend who works at the local convenience store can probably hook me up with some ladies' razors.
My nose runs a lot as the weather gets cooler, so this may be the last opportunity I have to really go crazy before I have to worry about dehydration from my nasal problems (please don't laugh, it snot funny).
My goal would be to get down below 80 pounds (I'm 91 or so right now). I figure that if I start on the 19th, I can ride 10,000 or so miles by the 26th. The most weekly mileage I've had recently was around 6,000 - 6,500 back in June. I'd like to see how well I could do climbing with a full summer of prep, several hundred thousand base miles, and around 400g less baby fat.
I'd also like to create a blog and Cafépress store around it, so I could record my training, run-ins with motorists, and hopefully raise enough funds to pay for spare tubes, tissues, and teeth fillings. It wouldn't be anything like those snobby blogs, but then again, they do around 0.02% of my total annual riding in a whole month. My blog and store would be more for the normal 99% of roadies.
I'm also looking at upgrading my ride to a full CF TT/Tri frame. I can lose 10 pounds right there over my old steel hybrid. That plus the 11 pounds off my belly and several thousand miles on the trainer should make me the best I can be, which is really all I can hope for. I figure I've got one shot left to get there, so I'll go for it!
Next week: bocce.
