i started with a new trek 1000 back in 2005. spring of 2006 i slapped 105 group on it. summer of 2006 i sold it and purchased a giant tcr c2 (full carbon fiber) rig. do what you want, but if you get hooked on cycling you likely will upgrade the entire bike sooner, rather then later. later.
