No, I'm starting with 10 weeks of Anatomical Adaptation because I've never done long term, structured weight lifting, and am only starting to race in the spring. I also have a discrepancy between my leg sizes after physical therapy for my right leg last spring that needs to get taken care of, another reason for lifting well before any base starts. My right leg is noticeably larger than my left, and definitely effects my pedal stroke. During squats I consciously focus on using the left more, and I do leg presses with each foot independent of the other.
I want to start the lifting early to get used to it. I'll start base work in February/March. Until then it's riding for fun, lifting, trail running and hiking. You do bring up a good point, I haven't checked the correlation to lifting and the base/build phases (call me an eager beaver). I don't think the race schedules for 2009 aren't even online yet, so I haven't planned my first peak other than sometime in may.
As for the lifting, I find my lower back is my limiter on squats, another reason to start easy and high rep. Good to hear the other positive things from Idesfor1 and coyote.
