Epilogue: after running two Shimano chains (Ultegra and D/A) on my Shimano drivetrain with SRAM cassette, I followed some people's advice and put on a SRAM (1070) chain. Jesus, what a difference: much quieter, quicker and smoother shifting, and of course the installation is easier. As long as it lasts longer than the Shimano chains (which didn't last long at all), I will stick with SRAM.
