A talented person could pretty reliably do it in 2 years. Most mere mortals tend to poop out at CAT3 or maybe 2.

Work hard and getting to at least a 2 is a totally reasonable goal. Why set the bar low anyway? If you don't make it, at least you busted your ass trying.
