I used to be a huge Adidas fan. Then in the late 90's I purchase a pair like Ullrich had in the 97 Tour, the blue ones. They were rubbish. Adidas must have changed their lasts, the drillings were offset so I couldn't position my cleat and you could feel every seam and rough edge inside the shoe. Poor show, especially as they were their top line shoe at the time. Put me off them for good.
At some point in the relatively recent past Mavic took over the cycling side of Addidas's sportswear line and up until their departure from the industry. That is why Addidas's departure from cycling coincides with Mavic's own line of cycling gear being introduced this year and I believe to be released to us consumers in early 2009.
