All things in moderation...
I like and find some of the gadgets at high tech stuff useful, but they are just tools that I refuse to become too dependent on. I do like to know how fast and far I run or ride. I do think that training schedules are a good tool but also think they need to be a bit flexible.
I laughed out loud on a century ride when a rider was whining that he didn't think he could finish because he left his HRM and bike computer home. He was actually serious! The guy was completely lost, he had no idea how hard to ride. He did finish though. but was limping in at the end due to poor pacing.
