Let me guess. You don't have children?

Family with children and family without children is completely different.

The needs of young children have absolutely nothing to do with high-level road cycling, they don't care about cycling.

So, a cycling enthusiast with young children must try to find time to ride when he/she is not caring for the kids (homework, sick days, weekend sports, weekday sports practices, generally teaching them about the world we live in). This is difficult to do since many of us work full time in addition to full time parenting.

I enjoy riding around with my wife and kids. But when we do a "group" ride you can be sure we're not doing climbs and checking our average speed. My kids have mountain type bikes are are at the age where they just like to noodle around on the bike.

Finally, I would not trade a single second of the time I spend with my wife and kids for an extra second on the bike. And I really love to ride.
