The Time Atacs and Eggbeaters are solid pedals and keep you in pretty good. Too good in my case. I always had difficulty getting out of those non adjustable designs when I was mtn biking.

Accidentally pedal release can be hair raising indeed.

I was cruising and deciding to sprint and into my 4th sprinting stroke, my left foot came out of my SPD Wellgo pedal and I ate it pretty bad. On a freewheel bike, my other foot just would have suck down to 6 o'clock position and be nothing. Lucky I was on my cheap fixie. Would have been bummed out if I crashed my new Pista. Put a dent in my helmet, good thing for that lid on my head!
