Practical road riding skids and skips

I know there are literally thousands of threads on skids and such, but up until now, I've only found one thread clearly explaining how to do a skip stop, and not talking about those 25 meter nuts to the stem skids. I would like to know how to do a practical skid that will stop you the fastest on the road without having to really leave your seat. Maybe i'm referring to those checks brakeless riders use. I learned how to do a small skip stop ("jumping" off the pedal with your dominant foot in the rear position) but this seems kind of inadequate for coming to a complete stop. Even when doing this, I find myself having to skip a couple of times repeatedly very quickly and still not being able to stop in a relatively short distance. I would like to learn a smoother technique. Basically, my question is, to all you brakeless riders on the road, what skid or skip do you use to slow you down the quickest without having to go through such a labored process, and how do you do it? Thanks!
