I guess if you're a pro you need to have an upper body of 12 year boy. I am not a CAT racer, however, there are a lot of regular rides that turn into races around the metro area where I live. I feel I do better on these rides if I keep my BMI to 22 and lift weights to increase endurance and strength. I work out and ride with a few other Vietnam era vets. Many days we focus on doing sets of non barbell exercises like: pull ups, chin up, dips, and hyper extensions. Of course, we always do a ton of abdominal work. We all ride compact crank sets and are in our early 60s.
