I used to help a friend up in Fort Wayne area do this every year for his dairy herd.
He did have a group of hunters lease access on his farm one year that shot his daughters 4H Angora Goat, though and he quit leasing access after that.

Then there was the farmer that painted "COW" on both sides of every cow. Worked fine. Of course, he did wake up to find an extremely well ventilated John Deere tractor.
