When I watch <I>American Flyers</I> I cheer for Rae Dawn Chong's legs and the brain aneurysm. Maybe that's because it was made in the 80s, when we also got <I>Personal Best</I> and <I>Flashdance</>, which gave us (respectively) Mariel Hemingway's legs and Jennifer Beals' butt.
Even if pulling around the Cinzano truck is over the top, <I>Breaking Away</I> is tied for first in my pantheon of 70s-flashback sports films, right up there with <I>Slap Shot</I>.
