Also, look at your current seat post. My bontrager post had decent setback and my fitter just reversed it giving me a more forward position. I raced 2 seasons on a roadie with aero bars, and a friend of mine seems to consistently place in the top 5 in our age group on his road bike with aerobars (I think he has a few 1st and 2nd place finishes in there too.) It's probably a good thing for me that I didn't get a tri bike my first time out. It's taken me a couple of seasons to figure out what I want in a dedicated tri bike.
