Shimano doesn't do seasonal incremental upgrades to their components like Campagnolo does. It takes them a number of years before they change something, and when they do change something, it's wholesale. Everything gets tweaked. Very little is left alone.

Ultegra SL is already weird enough, because tweaking a group less than three years after it was released isn't something Shimano does.
