New events are added based on popularity amongst viewers. Better athletic performances draw more viewers - thus open class events featuring the premier human athletes always outdraw the events that exclude the top athletes based on their gender. That's why this discussion has included discussion of male vs. female performance and so on.
So in your opinion, women's sports is just a waste of time? You are also ignoring the fact that there are people who couldnt care less about the mens events as much as how you couldnt care about events that exclude based on gender. This bifurcation of women's and men's sports exists, whether you like it or not. I see no reason why adding new events to the womens calendar needs any justification beyond interest and a decent field.

Just reading the majority of these posts is proof that women need Tittle IX. If you guys had it your way there wouldn't be any amateur women's sports. Just because women cannot always compete head to head with men doesn't mean that they shouldn't have the right to compete against each other. 99.9% of men on this forum couldnt hang on in a women's pro race (DrJ,X,PizzaMan maybe but the rest of us no way). So I guess we shouldn't get to compete either. It's sad that this mentality permeates our society, weather it be sports or math the idea that a women is inferior to a man just because of her gender is ridiculous.
