It's sad that this mentality permeates our society, weather it be sports or math the idea that a women is inferior to a man just because of her gender is ridiculous.
I don't think that anyone is saying that a there is any inherent difference in mental capacities between men and women.
However, the physical capabilities of men, in conjunction with the testosterone addled aggressive nature of mens racing makes for a more attractive, marketable sport.
I hate to say this, but cycling is like NASCAR. The faster they go, and the more aggressive they are, the more attractive the sport is to both fans and sponsors.
When you have two options, both of which cost the same, and one will generate twice as much revenue as the other, what would you choose?
