And drink more water on the trainer. Too easy to think that you don't need it as you don't push yourself too hard as you ain't going anywhere.
It will take 10 minutes to get the muscles loosened up for any exercise. Then another 10 minutes before the brain gets to the pace that you think you should be at. Then you realise that the brain was working overtime and you have to get into the rhythm. So 30 minutes into training and you are ready to start work.
Down at the gym- I spent 10 minutes on each of 5 disciplines. Always start on the recumbent and this is taken steady and I get the HR up to 130 to 140. Then it is the treadmill and a very fast walk for me up the steepest hill programme and I might see 150 if I am in the mood. Cycle and the hills on level 18/20 and keep cadence up at 100. That can get hard so expect to see my max on this one- Then the Rowing machine and relax abit as I am not used to much arm effort involved on this machine and finally the cross trainer. Up to 90% of Max on this for as long as possible. but often enjoy this so much the time will get extended. Then it is Sauna and shower and the best bit of the evening coming up- Take away curry from the best indian restaurant I have ever eaten at.
So why is it that 1 hour at the Gym (Don't have a trainer so for me it has to be at the Gym) and I am done for. An hours ride would only get me down for PIE and I can always ride for another hour after PIE.
A trainer- or the Gym- may not be the most invigorating exercise you can do- But it beats wearing out the remote on the TV when you are bored.
And we don't need any more rain over here for at least a few months. The wet summer has given us our fill this year.
