From left to right, first number is the position of the rim in the Mavic range; the other two is the width is mm. So 618 was an improvement over 517 and one mm wider. 618 was a great rim: double eyeleted, tough, would accept a wide variety of tire widths... . I've got a wheelset built with them still going strong after years of use.
