It's not passive aggressive.
It's clear they have a different mojo going on. It's rude to interject yourself on a new group and ask them to conform to your standards.
It's not uncommon for me to ride with my own club and decide it's not working and simply split off the group. Personally, and for good reason, I refuse to tell anyone how to use the road when I'm on it.
