A higher status by what measure? There are plenty of black people who make more money than a lot of white people. Racial discrimination is no longer condoned or institutionalized by society, making it a personal matter between people. Equal people.
When I say power I mean a hell of a lot more than anything you mention. A white person in society has untold amounts of privilege that is based solely on the color of their skin.
