So I was rescued by another rider who gave me a tube and handed me a mini-pump. I'd never used one before and asked how many strokes to air up the tire? He said "50". I thought he was kidding. He wasn't and the 50 strokes really did not air up the tire to full pressure. I'll stick with two CO2 cartridges.

At least two tubes and a patch kit, and, yes, a proper boot. I've never used them, but I carry two. Oh, and I've never needed the chain tool, but I've saved someone else's ride.
All this minimalist stuff is fine until you're stranded miles from nowhere.
